Along their journey (the event not the band) to New York (literally not musically), they ran across one Danny Barcelona. Ran across him not over him you sick-minded twit. Their Chevy Vandura had just broken down, proving it could not 'Endura' such a long drive and was in fact a big piece of 'Crapdura.' Stranded in Mississippi (they took the scenic route from Ohio to New York) miles from any civilization (this was Mississippi after all) things looked grim. However, sitting on his haunches at a dusty crossroads and chewing a stalk of sassafras, Danny Barcelona introduced himself. Like the bluesman Robert Johnson before him, Danny Barcelona had just sold his soul to a used car dealer in return for an otherworldly musical ability and a 1986 Plymouth Horizon. Also like his forefather Robert Johnson, Danny Barcelona was one day to be worshipped by lily-white affluent businessman, and would no doubt be portrayed in a film by Ralph Macchio. But before Ralph Macchio could inhabit his spirit, the three members of Nurse and Soldier sought to inhabit his Plymouth. The four of them continued their travels to Brooklyn, smokeys on their tail, and arrived to a fanfare of traffic jams and mosquito sprayings. They quickly established themselves as a regular act at a popular Brooklyn watering hole, playing under the name 'All Night Hooker Jam.' The rest is or isn't history depending on which books you read and which entrenched meritocracy is responsible for its dissemination. In conclusion... |
